Thanks for this resource. the motor is loud though, i then polished and oiled the zoom lens cases. The important part was using very gentle and very even pressure. My Nikon Camera Says Lens Error Blowing compressed air into the lens did the trick!

But after several tries and turning on and off, I got a message that the battery was dead. I had to switch to video prior to tuning it off a few times before the lens reset.
