But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. HiI have Cannon Powershot. I tried to gently push it down, but nothing happened. What I did was turn on the camera, allow the lens to extend, grabbed the lens casing when it attempted to close.

Many camera makers will not honor repairing this problem under warranty as they claim it is due to impact damage to the camera, or sand or debris getting into the lens I've owned several Canon's before but no luck getting any support from them after warranty is up. Just like magic the lens was able to pop out and I could take photos again! Read Canonís official explanation of the E18 error.
