For some reason, using Process Monitor I saw that giving the CurrentControlSet\services\BFE key the permission for SERVICE wasn't enough. Finally I tried this; and it worked fine: Went to CNET downloads Downloaded Zone Alarm (Free) Firewall app. (Free!) Installed it Everything came on like a dream, the windows firewall still does not work. secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose i still can’t get peer block to run which is a great firewall against spyware ips.
