If I boot into Windows, mount the drive, then reboot into Ubuntu, the drive appears as normal, and works fine. No worries ! The project uses an ubuntu 12.04 system with 3.8.0-35-generic kernel that is permanently connected to the board. Printouts are identical. More about the author
Cheers and thanks for a simple fix to a hugely annoying problem. In one of them it mentioned something about power. All these devices were fully functional on my computer when I had windows xp. This is not what the issue is.
