Apparently the Casio Exilim is more sensitive to power than other digital cameras. It really was an extremly gentle rotation of the lens which didn't feel as though it could possibly have done any damage to the camera. It is relatively new.

jayfixit01-07-2009, 12:52 PMYep, just did one yesterday. I've tried all of the methods. If using rechargeables, and they're more than a year old, consider purchasing new rechargeable batteries as they may not be providing sufficient power to startup the camera.
