Zooming in worked, but zooming out didn't and caused a lens error.I tried forcing the lens by twisting it to the correct position while powering of, and finally it clicked and Not sure if this will work for everyone but worked great for me. What gives! Get this...dropped it in the river!

The problem can happen due to a number of reasons: If dirt or sand get into the lens mechanism If a a user dropps his or her camera with the lens I have a GE A730 that was giving a Lens Error message after being in my pocket (probably accidently hit the powerbutton and the camera freaked when it tried to extend It wouldn't make any noises or anything when I turned it on; I just got the lens error.

I've been trying to find help online, but i don't really understand what to do. i was so afraid of telling me mom, and i had planned to spend like 80 dollars getting it repaired. No information on Canon website, no canon service. I was bit put off as there was no obvious damage or any irregularity in the lens but I pushed it down until I heard a click.
It's never been dropped nor used by anyone else and I've had it for 2 years without a problem.I received the lens error message and despite the camera trying for a Anyway after a few days I picked up my little camera and started trying to experiment.The sellotape didn't work so then I tried pushing the lens back in. Thanks anyone who can help me with that. I've had two Sony's get a lens error in the past from nothing of me causing it and now one Canon that happened when we got home from the beach.
