so glad this video exists! An unformatted card will initially work fine in a camera, but eventually will corrupt with time, especially after many files have been saved and deleted. Later, when i turned it on again and took another photos, it was functional and then turn off again. Only one suggestion, could you also include a picture of what the slot should look like when in the two (locked & unlocked) positions? I tried to repair it. when i can get it working it will not take photo and if it does it is not clear.
My memory card has worked for a while without breaking but now it is saying it is locked. Upon reading this post, I tried using a toothpick, & the card worked just fine after the first try!!!!! lucky to find a very thin smooth surfaced tape. Wow! Check This Out I have three cameras like this so I am VERY happy.
i ve put the sd card in the wrong side and it got stuck , after strugling to take it out i somehow managed to do it but it came out I thought something must be wrong with my card so I popped another in and got the same result. R. Then, I got the 'Memory card locked' error.
Got the same message. opss!! ..anyway ..and my camera still works but the problem at my card everytime i open it it says ..THIS MEMORY CARD IS WRITE-PROTECTED :S and i dont know what to is there anyways i can recover my pics.?! Any advice on cause of problem and/ or fixes?

Is there hope? i tried to take another shoot, suddenly a red text saying 'memory card is right protected'.the pictures taken can be viewed but the taking pictures is impossible. If you've tried the above techniques, and it's still showing locked, it's likely that the locking switch inside the camera's card slot is stuck.
