Voila.. I have been in touch with Canon repair facility & they asked me to send my ixus for repair free of charge. I also have a Canon S3 with a 2GB 50X Kingston card. And this one is of the front of the camera.

IF it's indeed a fix, it would save having to dismantle the camera. I'd tried electrical cleaner sprays, which worked for a few days… but no luck. I gently used a bent paperclip (large size) and held the black plunger down for 3-10seconds. In this case, you only have to place the tiny 'microSD" card into the larger regular size SD card, then place it in the camera. I finally had to use a little super glue. Check This Out worked just as you describe on my S400.

I had removed and refitted the battery 3 times then I found the message on the Cannon website saying they would pay for the repair https://self-service-kb.canon-europe.com/ Servicing If it is determined Reset' and select ‘On', then reformat the card (‘Format' then ‘OK'.) This seemed to do the trick on mine. Ok, no matter what you do, the 8gb SDHC card will not work in this camera. Any info on how to resolve this is much appreciated.
