Update: The switch is up, but no matter where it is my camera still says it is locked. There is a small switch in the card that is currently in the locked position. I was able to view the card on my laptop before the error message on the camera. Take apart your camera and remove the flash motherboard correctly so you can replace it. I had no idea about the switch on the card itself!

You can only upload files of type PNG, JPG, or JPEG. anonyous who can't do anything with the card,Have you checked the little metal contact points on your card for cleanliness. It did for me. Prior to the above message, my camera displayed a message 'memory card error card locked' and I was not able to see view my photos. Since I have had the camera so long I know the warranty is long gone, but I was hoping there would be an easy and CHEAP solution to this... If you unlock it, I think that will allow you to download your pictures. I just received a new 16GB for my new Canon IT2 camera. Canon Powershot A540 Review I turned the camera off, then on again.
I verified that it is the correct file for my Powershot A540, a540-100b-0.9.8-792-full.zip, and that the correct firmware was already installed in the camera (vers. 1.00b). With a plastic toothpick, or other skinny NON-METALLIC item, tap and gently push against this switch to see if you can jar open the contact to its normal unlocked position. We unlocked it on the side, but still are getting the error. Check This Out It works.

Had to use tape for missing lock switch and it is working well again!
