i tried the can of compressed gas duster but that didn't work. Then retracts, there's a partial shutter closure. i was freaking out when i got this problem on my canon digital ixus i7 and to think all i need to do was fix #4 to solve it all!

Each application of a suggestion improved the lens cover operation. There are posts on the back of the "wings" that appear to go into holes around the lens. My daughter dropped her Casio Ex-Z1050 while taking a picture and the lens would not extend fully and would retract again right away, but not fully.

What I did: Powered the camera on and off (zooming in and out each time) putting the lens directly into the vacuum hose and gently tapping it around about 3x!

Like I said, it turns on, but the lens only extends a tiny bit, and then the lens error comes up and it quickly turns off. Please don't blame me if instead undesirable results occur. the lens will not open, and seeing as i just bought this camera, i really dont want to replace it.
